Every now and then we ALL need that little kick up the backside!
Whether it's help getting out of bed instead of hitting the snooze button, cooking a home made meal instead of a take-out or skipping an exercise session to sit on the sofa and indulge in crisps and a sweet fix.
We all look for a quick and easy way to boost energy.
This is where drinks such as caffeinated sodas, energy drinks full of processed ingredients and sugars or a cheap quality coffee that will only give your body a crash soon after consuming.
What if I told you there were LOTS of cheaper, tastier and healthier options that don't carry the negative side-effects that the above mentioned sources do?
Let me help you out, read on.
Energy source number 1
Fruits are the top of my list for instant energy sources. With so many different flavours, shapes and sizes, there is a fruit for everyone!
Packed with nutritional benefits as well as clean natural energy, there are no reasons why we all shouldn't be reaching for an apple or banana instead of an instant coffee mix or energy drink!
Try ditching the processed energy sources and replace them with fruits for 7 days and I promise you not only will you see your natural energy increase, you will also notice the HUGE benefits that consuming fruits brings.
Try to choose locally grown organic fruit for the highest quality and freshness.
Energy source number 2
Probably the healthiest energy source on earth, and affordable too. And it's now available everywhere - just make sure there is no added sugar.
You can also buy your own fresh coconuts and extract the water yourself, so it's fresh and natural - though you may need a hammer or a drill!
Coconut water is absolutely PACKED with top quality vitamins and minerals, and also has a great electrolyte profile giving you everything your body needs to replenish and refuel before, during and after exercise - or just as a health and energy boost during the day.
It tastes great and can be bought in most stores.
Again, as with the fruit, try to choose organic sources.
Energy source number 3
This may come as a bit of a surprise but yes, lack of sleep WILL negatively affect your energy levels no matter how many energy boosting foods and drinks we consume.
The only time the body heals, recovers and grows is whilst it is in sleeping mode. It's as simple as that, there is no out-doing it.
I recommend aiming for at least 7 - 8 hours of good quality sleep per night.
This will ensure the body is fully recovered from the stresses life brings us during the day and if we have exercised, sleep will ensure maximum growth and results!
